Financial Times, 8-28-2020: Taiwan eventually eases restrictions on US pork and beef imports.  Must bear in mind you may eat beef and pork with controversial Ractopamine from 2021 on, because the cost of local meat is much more expensive.  83% of Taiwan's Michelin 2~3 star restaurants, and 33% of Taiwan's Michelin star restaurants, failed to pass sanitary/health inspection (kitchen things/equipment not clean, food materials on the floor, without staffs' health examination proof ) , but they passed second inspection, such as 3 star restaurant Le Palais, 2 star restaurants RAW態芮-Tairroir、祥雲龍吟( RyuGin Taipei )、 鮨天本(Sushi Amamoto).   ref. to Liberty Times, 3-30-2020, Apple Daily 3-31-2020. Michelin Guide Taipei & TaiChung was released in August 2020,  Taiwanese cuisine was not valued high, last year's 1 starred Taiwanese cuisine restaurant "Tainan Tai Tsu Mien Seafood"

 (台南擔仔麵)  was kicked out of starred list, and there's no any new-entry Taiwanese cuisine restaurant.  Din Tai Fung fails to have star again in this year.
Michelin GuideTaipei  was released at 4-10-2019, Taiwanese cuisine was not valued very high, only 4 restaurants won 1 star each,   3 starred chefs are from Hong Kong (Canton) and Macau.    The total number of stars and starred restaurants of Taiwan are much less than those of Shanghai, HK, Macao, and Singapore, in both 2019 and 2018.   Furthermore, unlike those in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taiwan's night-market, street food failed to won any Michelin star.  Even Taiwan's Michelin 3 star winner Le Palais was found snacks containing Hydrogen peroxide (過氧化氫) and Benzoic acid (苯甲酸),  besides, many tourism hotels / 5 star hotels were found food hygiene not up to standard, e.g.,  5 star hotels used expired no-good ingredients, such as HsinChu and Taipei's Ambassador Hotel,  The Grand Hotel, Regent Formosa, and so on, reported by CTV evening news, BCC , LTN (12-19-2019) https://news.ltn.com.tw/news/life/breakingnews/3014179   United Daily 1-20-2020:  Taipei mayor Ko: Our night markets and markets are too dirty !  Liberty Times , 1-6-2019 :  Taipei City Hall's "Model Night Markets" project, aims at " Japanese tourists are willing to sit down to eat "however, quite many stalls opposed, in that elevating the hygienic level and class increases their running costs...  WEF <Travel and tourism competitiveness report> of 2019 shows Taiwan had the sub-region's largest decline in competitiveness,  Taiwan ranks 10th in Asia, Taiwan's prioritization of travel & tourism ranks world No.75 ...  travel & tourism  New !

Taiwan's food safety failed again and again,  Dioxin, Fipronil poison-eggs in last year, Nicarbazin illegal drug residue event in this year.  Europe was very cautious about Fipronil event, in contrast, Taiwan did nothing about it.   Even worse, Taiwan officials hide Nicarbazin issue from Taiwanese people to baby related business indulge business to retrieve problematic eggs and then resell them as promotion goods..

 A book (Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital, Taiwan Veterans General Hospital's physician Jiang So-San M.D. 江守山 "食在安心" (10-2014)) said many 5 star hotel restaurants don't wash vegetables ...  some 5 star hotels made sashimi raw fish slices by using fresh-water fishes, this may increase the probability to get cancer

 The China Times, 5-21-2018 : Taiwan food safety became nothing but a slogan for the government's relaxation of pesticide residue standards in these 2 years.   TVBS, 9-12-2017 : Scholar (中興univ. professor 曾德賜) expressed the amount ( per hectare ) of application of pesticide in Taiwan was ranked world No.1, according to India's study.


●   In May 2019, Taiwan High Court Prosecutor Office's chief prosecutor conclusion of a criminal suit case has shown :
      (1) ignorance of two eye-witnesses testimony-documents ( to prove a 5 star hotel restaurant chef did sniff again and again at customers) given in presence of police officials in police station.  
      (2) ignorance of some phrases to humiliate dining customers (e.g., "the exit is there ! the toilet is out there !!"  ) 'shouted' by a 5 star hotel restaurant staff  ...
      Therefore, the site can conclude that Taiwan is not a foodie-friendly environment or tourists-friendly country, or even not a civilized country - compared with the rules for American's restaurants  - ref. to

      Michelin Guide Taipei 2018

    ★   To emergently rescue dying tourism, Taiwan spent huge money to have <Michelin Guide> Taipei


pic.: China Times - Want Weekly, No.185: To emergently save dying tourism, Taiwan government spent NT90,000,000 (USD3 millions) to have <Michelin Guide> in Taiwan in 2018.   In contrast,  The China Times, 7-9-2017: The budget for food safety is allocated only NT1 to each person, on average, so poor !!

 This site urged :  Taiwanese want food safety, much more than good eat or food advertisements for promoting tourism.  When having Michelin recommended food, sometimes we may need to put aside factor of health, for instance:

       One Michelin Bib Gourmand stall put their "to go"  main-dish hot soup in plastic bag, hence, customers  likely eat  plasticisers and something    their main foods are animal organs (viscera), Int'l medical web advised "organ meats carry some risks", offals are not considered "staple of the Western diet" (usually muscle meats only). ps: cholesterol in lean pork about 60mg. ,pork  liver 420mg.
